Wednesday, October 18th, 2006Keeping in mind that we have Diwali holidays during the 4th monday of this month we decided to shift the mobile monday to 30th 
. The topic of this month’s discussion is related to LBS and the title of the talk is “From Dial Tone to Location Tone“. The discussion would be led by Pramod Jajoo, MD India Operations and Vice President Engineering of Xora.
Here is a brief abstract of what would be covered:
“Until recently, the primary use of cell phones was still for voice communication and messaging. But that has changed, somewhat, as cell phone providers and their partners have begun identifying new uses for the ever-increasing population of available mobile devices. One such innovation has been the role of the handset as a location tool. Computer chips now embedded in many cell phones enable authorized parties to track the location of these devices as they move from one place to another, by leveraging a Global Positioning System (GPS) network.”
